Introduction:
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo , also called the Drei Zinnen , are three distinctive battlement-like peaks, in the Sexten Dolomites of northeastern Italy. They are probably one of the best-known mountain groups in the Alps.

The highest peaks of the Dolomites were the stage for battles during World War I among men who attempt to live together in peace today. The war trails offer an interesting insight into history; everywhere you may detect ladders, bridges, trenches and galleries.

Get in:
Bolzano Italy and Innsbruck, Austria have airports and are major train terminals. From either of these cities, drive or take a bus or train to Bressano . Drive or take a bus/train to San Candido on Road E66 from Bressanone . The main road runs from Bressano through Brunico to Cortina d'Ampezzo. From there, one crosses Passo Tre Croci to reach Misurina. Or one can turn off north of Cortina at Carbonin to reach Misurina.
