Introduction:
Shangrila Lake or Lower Kachura Lake is a part of the Shangrila resort located at a drive of about 20 minutes from Skardu town.It is a popular tourist destination, and has a unique restaurant that is built on the fuselage of an aircraft that had crashed nearby.Shangrila was established in 1983 with the opening of the first Resort Hotel in Skardu.

Shangrila Resort is situated in between the world highest mountains, provides better view and also gives fine breathtaking comforts. It looks like a heart formed "Kachura Lake", encircled by fruit laden orchards and full of colorful flower filled green gardens.

Get in:
Skardu can be reached by bus from Islamabad. The drive takes you all the way over the KKH .Since the KKH is still under construction and the Skardu road still has to be repaired, the road can take up to 36 hours by public transport .It's also possible to get to Skardu from Gilgit.
